God Cares

Rebecka Walter

On December 14, 2017, I pulled my hair back, wiped the sweat from my forehead, zipped up my coat, and departed from the gym. I waved goodbye and smiled at the individual standing behind the counter, and made my way to the car. Moments later, a gentleman approached me and handed me a giant box.

“Are you allergic to pine?” he asked.
“No?” I replied.
“Well, here’s a Christmas wreath for you! If you want it. A lady gave it to me today, but my daughter is allergic to pine. This is real pine and I can’t have it. Perhaps you might be interested?”
“Really?!” I shouted in amazement.

I drove away in disbelief and said, “God, I didn’t even ask you!”
God smiled and assured, “I heard you, darling.”

I was on a quest to locate the perfect Christmas wreath for the holiday season, but I just couldn’t seem to find the right one. An adorable, bright pink and yellow flowered wreath decorated my front door, but summertime was over. Eventually, I simply convinced myself that my money could be used much more wisely elsewhere, and that the colorful wreath on my front door, that perfectly mirrored my personality, had a permanent place to call home. I didn’t even talk to God about this fiasco; I just accepted that I wouldn’t have a holiday wreath and carried on!

Well, God had other plans, and I want you to remember, Princess, that He truly does give you those little desires in your heart (Ps. 37:4). Special one, if God cared enough to involve Himself in what seemed to be such a little and insignificant detail of my life, imagine how much He wants to be included in your seemingly minute and meaningless details too!
