You can Count on it

Morning devotions:
Jeremiah 29 (the message)

The prophet Jeremiah had written a letter and entrusted Elasah with delivering it to the exiles who were unfairly sent to Babylon. This letter is extremely powerful, and the part I want to specifically draw your attention to reads:

“I know what I am doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you; plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me and get serious about seeking me, and when you desire it more than anything else, you’ll find me. You won’t be disappointed, and I will turn things around for you. YOU CAN COUNT ON IT,” saith the Lord.

Earlier in the chapter, God encourages the exiles to make the best of their difficult situation, by building houses, making themselves at home, planting gardens, having children, creating generations, Working hard, and praying for Babylon’s well-being.

Princess, whatever you’re enduring as you read this, whatever circumstances are weighing heavy on your heart, whatever feelings of uncertainty are eluding your God-given destiny, hold onto what is certain – God’s beautiful promises. You are a power house, and so often, emotions are unreliable, but Princess, God never is (Hebrews 13:8).

Sometimes we experience hardships that are completely out of our control, but we are always in control of our response. How we respond to life’s many challenges speaks much of our character (Romans 5:3-4).

Whatever furnace you are trudging through, Princess, remember that the enemy sends fire to burn you and to harm you, but God will use that same fire to purify you and to fashion you into the jewel that you were created to be (Romans 8:28). Therefore, just as God encouraged the exiles to rise up, live life, create generations, endure, and pray for the circumstances that captivated them, He wants the same for you (Romans 2:11)! Praise Him in the storm, for nothing is comparable to the eternal treasure that awaits for those who persevere (Romans 8:18).

Princess, dry your tears, and trust your sovereign King (Proverbs 3:5). He will never leave nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). This is going to make you, not break you! You’ve got the God-of-angel-armies on your side, and who else can then be against you (Romans 8:31)? No one. You are indeed a treasure in the eyes of Christ, and He cherishes your very being (Psalms 139:13-14). Trust the process, Special one. Even caterpillars have to lose their feet before they are able to gain their wings, and you too, Princess, are in the process of flying. God is your craftsman, and He makes no mistakes. YOU CAN COUNT ON IT.
