MY Best Friend

“What resonates most when you hear the name, Jesus?” A gentleman once inquired. “Healer, Savior, Father, Deliverer, Teacher, or Best Friend?” This was difficult for me to ponder, as each description personally carries great significance. Nonetheless, a short time later, I presented my answer with great confidence. Excitement echoed through my voice as I shared, “You know, I was thinking, out of everything I consider Jesus, the one that resonates the most is Best Friend!”

I have recently been called into a very quiet and focused season which has encompassed tremendous growth as well as its own set of challenges. God is stripping me from previous comforts and continues pruning my heart from tainted fruit so that His abundance can flourish. My desires have changed, resulting in a lifestyle that follows. I experienced a time of loneliness until I learned how to solely rely on my King. Realizing how wonderful His sovereign presence has been, the word, Best Friend, resonates most when I say, Jesus.

Following this recent revelation, I began assimilating this new title when speaking to my Creator. I started many prayers with, “Good morning, Best Friend,” And I finished many others with, “Amen, Best Friend!” In so many different aspects of our conversations, I incorporate what resonates most – Best Friend.

Recently, I discovered an old iPod and several accessories that I had collected throughout the years for my current cell phone. Having no further use for any of these items, I asked if anyone else did. Several people responded to my Facebook post, and I made arrangements accordingly.

As I was enjoying a night at work and tending to my normal duties, I glanced at the clock and realized it was not yet time for a break. This was difficult to accept, given a random burst of hunger that rudely invaded my entire being! I shouted out to the Lord in frustration, “Jesus, I’m so hungry! What do I do?”

Moments later, I received a call to assist a customer in a different department. As I departed from my current task  and prepared to offer assistance, I unexpectedly crossed paths with the individual who expressed interest in the iPod. She traveled from out of town, and handed me a small bag upon arrival. “Here! I brought you a cookie!”
I replied, “Really? I am so hungry! Thank you so much!”

Later that night, as I walked into the break room, a conversation with my Creator ensued. “Jesus!” I exclaimed, as a smile spread across my face, “You brought me a cookie!”
He replied, “I didn’t want my best friend to be hungry.”

Princess what word resonates most when you hear the word, Jesus? What speaks to your heart? Whatever you decide, the Bible promises that God will never leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). The Lord is your sun and your shield. He provides grace and glory. Your Creator will withhold no good thing from you (Psalm 84:11). Princess, the Lord is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9), and neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39). Princess, if Jesus can give me a cookie when I’m hungry, imagine what He is willing to give you too. Just ask (Matthew 7:7).
